Wikipedia explained ´sport´ as an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. In Ikram though, it is seen as the same, but less ´competitively´ and more ´fun´.
That is why it became a ´carnival´ and held as a yearly event. Organized by Kumpulan Ikram Sports Club (KSKKI), the Kumpulan ikram Sports Carnival 2008 was officially launched on August 15th 2008 with all the citizens of Kumpulan Ikram, divided into teams of contingents called Hornets, Lions, Rhinos and Panther, all dressed up in their respective contingent colors.
The first game, though, started much earlier than the official opening. The futsal tournament started on July 26th 2008 and all the other games were held throughout the weeks that followed, and ended on its official closing ceremony on August 16th 2008.
The sports fiesta comprised of a series of indoor and outdoor games such as Bowling, Softball, Badminton, Basketball, Dart, and Chess among others. Most of the games were played at the Ikram Park field and multipurpose hall.
The Hornet contingent bagged most of the prizes which entitled them Champion for two consecutive years. Second, was the Lion group with 34 points, then Rhinos with 33 points, and Panther at the fourth place with 27 points. All the group and individual winners were given prizes in terms of monetary and trophy rewards.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants of the games. Hopefully, it was a fun experience for all and instilled the spirit of teamwork, enhanced social interaction and rejuvenate work-weary minds.
