A CELEBRATION TO REMEMBER The 50th Years Of Independence |
On the 17th August 2007, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) played host for the "Majlis Pelancaran Bulan Kemerdekaan & Kempen Kibar Jalur Gemilang Campaign" organized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia.
The event was organized to commemorate the 50th Merdeka Celebration.
The objectives of the event focused on the spirit of independence among the youngsters and to educate them on the hardship and struggled of our ancestors in pursuit of independence.
Flags and buntings adorned all major roads and buildings around KLIUC that day. The students and the invited guests were clad in yellow and black t-shirts in sync with the campaign. The patriotic spirit surfaced among them with flags raised up at various areas such as buildings, cars, bicycles and canopies.
Representatives from the universities and higher learning institutions were among the invited guests. The celebration saw more than ten universities converged in the KLUIC grounds. Among the participations were from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malysia (UPM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Lim Kok Wing University, Open University and several other institutions around Klang Valley.
Guests later thronged the KLIUC's compound to welcome the 1000 convoy participants of
National cars, bicycles and Modenas motorcycles. The convoy, that arrived from Putrajaya, has been in journey since early morning to encourage the raising of the Malaysian flag besides depicting the Malaysian spirit of 50th Merdeka.
To make the event livelier, all guests and participants sang the national anthem in unison followed by other patriotic songs. The final stage were the group performances by undergraduates of the universities.
The event ended with lunch session that was prepared by KLIUC.
