The sense of pride and accomplishment were palpable on the faces of the 506 graduates of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) during the university's fifth annual convocation ceremony held recently.
The event was graced by Y. Bhg Tan Sri Dato' Abdul Hamid Othman, Chairman, Board of Governors of KLIUC. Also present on that day was the KLIUC President, Prof. Dato' Wira Ir. Dr. Mohamad Noor bin Haji Salleh, academic staff, honorary guests, parents and friends of the graduates.
The students were conferred with Diplomas and Degrees during the convocation ceremony where seven graduates were bestowed with the highest achievement in education awards.
The recipients were Leong Foo Wah ( Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours); Ng Siew Wei ( Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours), Ali Akhtar ( Diploma in Information Technology), Ahmad Razei Abdullah ( Diploma in Business Administration) and Fazrah binti Fadzil Khan ( Diploma in Corporate Communication).
For the first time this year, to encourage a better-rounded student population in KLIUC, the institution has introduced the Board of Governors Book Award and President Book Award to those who excel in both their academics as well as in extra-curricular activities. At the ceremony, the awards were given to top students Siti Hadija bin Mohammadin and Intan Adila binti Badrul Hisham, respectively.
All the honorary recipients from each school were rewarded with RM5000 for Degree recipients and RM3000 for Diploma recipients.
Currently, KLIUC has a total of 2,020 students majoring in various fields such as Business Administration, Corporate Communication, Accountancy, Engineering and others.
To date, KLIUC has produced a total of 2,221 graduates who are now serving both the government and private sectors.
